Come Rain or Shine

Sponsored Canal Walk - 5 September 2009

A flat walk of around 9 miles, taking in the beautiful scenery along the Bridgewater Canal from Lymm to Sale.

The walk journey was featured on the Granada TV Series, Locks and Quays, in January 2008.

Registration

Walk registration will be from 9.15am at Pepper Street Car Park Lymm, in the centre of the village. We expect the walk to take approximately 3 hrs. Return transport is very limited, so please make your own arrangements if at all possible.

Entry Fees

The entry fee is £5 per person which covers administration costs, canal boat support en route, refreshments throughout and a light lunch at the end of the walk.

Payment of an entry fee ensures that every penny given by your sponsors will go directly to the work of Victim Support Trafford.

Please note that entry fees are non-refundable.

Sponsor Form

Once you have returned the entry form below we will send you an information pack with sponsor forms. Places are limited so we would like you to collect as many sponsors as you can, as every penny raised really will make a difference to victims of crime in the Borough of Trafford.

The easiest way to collect sponsorship is to set up an online page. Just click here and follow the instructions.

All walkers will be issued with a certificate in recognition of completing the challenge.

Volunteering Opportunities

Victim Support & Witness Service Trafford are currently seeking volunteers from the local community who would be interested in making initial contact, by telephone, with victims of crime to offer our service.

This would involve making calls out of office hours when people are more likely to be home i.e. during the evening and at weekends and thus you would be working from home so access to a landline telephone is necessary. This doesn’t involve ‘cold calling’ as those you contact will have already been informed about our service by the police.

Full training will be provided and expenses paid.

For further information, please click on ‘Volunteering’ in the menu.
